One cannot deny that the twenty-first century belongs to the God of small things. Look at the modern living spaces, especially in the metropolitan cities from round the world; they are shrinking into living nests. But not to worry, the new mantra for the interior decorators is to transform these nests into superb spaces. But, designing a small space into beautiful living space is no rocket science. One can do this out of inherent sense of decoration and for the rest; here are some ideas that are known to transform small spaces into great looking and comfortable zone.
The first step starts with the basic architecture of the place. Small places must be allowed to have windows and doors in plenty. This will not only make the area airy but also induce a bigger look and will add to the comfort of the place.
Once the architecture is done, the next big thing is choosing the right color for the walls and the ceiling. It is traditionally believed that lighter colors like white, pale yellow and pale green make the space look larger. Proper color coordination is vital. The color of the walls, of the ceiling and of the doors and windows must complementary to each other. For giving a brighter look, the color of the ceiling may be shade or two darker but a color that is overtly dark must be avoided.
The curtains also play an important role; light colored lengthy curtains are advised for small spaces. Be it a living room or a bed room or any other part of a house. They curtains are a must. They must be used in fashion that they serve their original purpose of proving privacy and in addition add to the beauty of the space.
Next comes the flooring, generally, glossy floor tiles are preferred for smaller places. They reflect light better and add to the illusion of larger place.
The furniture is the integral part of any room. The art of making a small place look bigger is largely dependant on the furniture selection. While selecting furniture for small places one should keep in mind that the furniture must not consume much space. But they must offer enough storage space. Then again one should not go for many small pieces of furniture but single piece middle sized furniture are preferred. The multi purpose furniture is great choice. There folding beds available that can be folded into sofa. Similarly some entertainment sets offer place for books and other itineraries.
Efficient lighting is another as aspect. On should not opt for ceiling light or spotted lights because such lighting make the space look smaller. Mirrors are great aid for enhancing the look of the given space but too many of them will only make it an overstatement.
Thus, let creativity flutter its wing and then it can create magic even of the space is small.
